REVIEWThursday, June 5, 2003 - The Courier ... the dancers displayed body control at the highest level as they twirled over the floor of the Stadttheater St. Poelten. Madame Butterfly on Tour 2003Under the direction of Ms. Rio Mitani, the Austrian Ballet Company (ABC) was invited by Wiener Festwochen (Vienna Festival Weeks) 2003 to perform a modern ballet version of Giaccomo Puccinifs Madame Butterfly in a series of open-air concerts. The Viennese audiences loved ABCfs Japanese dancers and their compelling, accessible performance of this classic story.
The consistently gorgeous weather allowed ABC to perform on stages in fifteen different neighborhoods of Vienna. The crowning finale to this successful tour was a guest appearance by ABC at the 15th International Ballet Meeting in the Stadttheater St. Poelten, followed by a special tribute by St. Poelten Mayor Willi Gruber. An Interactive and Educational EventABCfs Narrator leads the children through the numerous exciting moments in the performance. The young audience is drawn into playful interaction with a quiz, which transmits important educational content in a fun way. If desired, the children in the audience may also interact with the performance by dancing with the performers on the stage after the show. |
