Programs for Schools - Community

History of ABC-Tokyo Ballet Co.

The Austrian Ballet Company first performed under the direction of Christian Martinu in 1995 in Europe.
In the years since, ABC’s repertory includes the great classic ballets like Giselle, Swan Lake, Don Quixote and Les Sylphides.

With the creation of Yuki Onna - The Snow Woman and "Urashima Taro - A Fisherman"s Tale" the company produced entertaining evenings, fusioning Western Ballet with Japanese Art.

Special programs for young audiences are another focus. The Nutcracker, Moses- The Prince of Egypt, A Midsummer Nights' Dream, The Magic Flute and Madame Butterfly are examples for our youth oriented programs.

After the creation of "Messiah" in April 2011 the company is actually working on "Giselle" for performances in the fall/winter season 2011.
"Umbrella of Kyoto" is the next premiere for spring 2012. In "Umbrellas of Kyoto" the company will be again weaving Japanese culture with powerful ballet.

The company is touring in Japan, and internationally, in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Brazil, China, the USA and regularly since 2005 in Australia.

The Vienna Opera Ball

ABC-Tokyo presents several times a year authentic Viennese Waltzes and Polkas.
Rio Mitani, who studied the unique Waltz-Ballet method (Wiesenthal technique) - taught only
at the Vienna State Opera Ballet School - creates those original works. Like the Vienna Opera Ball in the Westin Hotel, Tokyo.
