Melissa UchiyamaMelissa has taught children for over fifteen years, in south Florida and here, in Japan.
She has worked as a literacy specialist, leading creative writing camps, individualized learning and small group sessions with percussive instruments, movement, and games. She believes in teaching the whole child the way dance engages and activates coordination, balanced brain development, and early-reading skills, including musicality, rhythm, and attention to sequence. Your child will gain confidence as he/she learns the joy of creative movement. Melissa, herself, has studied ballet, jazz, folk, and modern dance. Not only a teacher, she is a mother to three bilingual children and has helped teach her daughters ballet. She knows the power of encouragement and positive language. Her Creative Movement Class will combine language, music, and movement for the optimal early dance experience within ABC-Tokyo’s strong ballet program. |
