About the performance雪女 について
初公演は2005年、世界のバレエスター、ウラジミール・マラーホフがパトロンを務めていたバレエ・サンクトペルテン主催のバレエフェスティバル「国際バレエミーティング」に於いて「ジャパニズム」は大歓声と割れんばかりの拍手で評価され、ABCはサンクトペルテンの市長より名誉メダルを受け取った。 2007年、世界のバレエスター達が集まるバレエガラで再び「ジャパニズム」を披露し、その大成功に支えられそれまでストーリー無しのダンスナンバーであった「ジャパニズム」を包み込む全幕ものを作ることが決定。 「雪女」が生まれた。 2009年、「雪女」は日本のめぐろパーシモンホールで初演され、以来日本をはじめ、オーストラリアやシンガポール、マレーシアやオーストリアのフェスティバルなど多くの舞台で上演され、今では100回以上、一万人を超える観客に評価され続けている。 2012年「ジャパニズム」は世界のイベントTEDxTokyoの最終演目に選ばれ、公演の生映像が世界中にストリーミングされた。 Yuki Onna - The Snow Woman “Yuki Onna” was first presented in Austria in 2005 at the "International Ballet Meeting" organized by Ballet St. Poelten with Ballet star and Berlin Ballet Director Vladimir Malakhov as its patron then. The ballet was a huge success which was expressed in the audience's enthusiastic applause. ABC was later honored at the mayor's reception. The most representative excerpt in Yuki Onna is undoubtedly JAPANISM, "the dance with the red kimonos and the sticks". It has now become ABC's trademark and was shown close to 100 times since its creation. The company was invited to perform the whole ballet numerous times in Perth, Australia as well at the Vienna Districts Festival Weeks, Austria reaching an audience of more than 10,000. Libretto: Mitch, an English teacher has arrived in Tokyo, but disillusioned by its hectic city life takes a train to Japan’s countryside. He finds himself in a snowstorm in the dark woods and encounters the inhumanly beautiful Yuki Onna – the Snow Woman. She kills all intruders into the woods, but falls in love with Mitch and lets him go with the promise never to tell anyone about what he saw, otherwise she would kill him. Mitch promises and escapes to a little, traditional Japanese village where he settles and marries a beautiful young girl named Oyuki. Many years pass and they are blessed with a baby. On winter evening, during a snow storm Mitch remembers Yuki Onna. Forgetting about his oath, he begins to tell his wife... |
